PANE IN THE GLASS PRODUCTIONS

 PREPPIES OF THE WORLD BEWARE

Preppies of the world beware:
You are not much more than square.
In your boots and western jeans,
I think you are all full of beans.

To watch a group of you walk by,
I have to ask myself why?
You wish to be just like the other,
All drippy nipples from a cow’s utter.

You come off as worldly wise.
Yet, I believe it’s a disguise
For who you really are inside;
Plain vanilla you can’t abide.

You were cut from stenciled form,
And I know you think you’re above the norm.
Somehow that makes you less to me
Than the bum whose bed is full of fleas.

You corner the market on snobbery.
To step out of your group 'neath your dignity.
'Less it’s for something you can get,
And then act as if you’ve never met.

You’ve been 'round right from the start.
In the sandbox you trampled my heart.
At school you made fun of my clothes.
I tried to be friends but you were my foes.

Was it genes or were you taught
To act that mean and not get caught.
The names you used to call me hurt –
Especially when you called me Bert.

And now you want to be my friend,
But I don’t have time to spend
With two-faced preppies who went down
Beneath their level to know this clown.

I needed you then but I don’t need you now.
You see, I learned who, what and how.
It’s not important to me anymore
To watch you make points and keep score.

And I know that’s what you’d like me to do.
I’d fit in if I just kissed your shoe;
And I’m not willing to become what I’m not.
I don’t even like you a lot.

You come with a complete set of laws.
They only change when they suit your cause.
You think for you to get ahead,
You must stomp on the little guy’s head.

It’s not so much that you treat me this way.
It’s how you act and what you say
To those who are not just like you.
Humanity is not your strong suit.
